A voyage in North Africa

One of the delicious pleasures of painting in oil is that you are free to float away as if in a dream. Your hands are occupied with the brushes and there is the smell of the turpentine and the pleasant studio light. It is then that friends and things forgotten over the years flower once more in the painter's memory. And without his even being aware of it, they enhance the picture, bringing to it an even more subtle fragrance.
